What have you learned from your field trip to Ouro
Preto?
In Ouro Preto, we have learned a lot of things. Ouro
Preto is a little city in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
In Ouro Preto there are more than 3.000 mines in the total and we visited two
of them: “Mina da Passagem” and “Mina do Jeje”.
In there, the streets aren’t plane. The city is localized under terrain
mountains.
In the center of the city are the Praça Tiradentes, which is a monument in homage
to Tiradentes, who participated of the Incofidência
Mineira, a movement started in 1760 in consequence of the unsatisfaction
from the cream of the society of Minas Gerais that had an outcome in April 21st,
1762 when one of its principal leaders was hanged and cut into quarters, his
name was Joaquim José da Silva Xavier (Tiradentes), this death happened in this
square.
We really liked very much to learn about how the miners used to extract the
minerals and this trip was so important for us to understand better how our
country progressed.
In the point of view of what this trip has changed our lifes, We don’t have how to explain. This
was the first time for our group, staying such a long time away from our families
and life, but, in constract we had a lot of fun and new experiences. It was the
best trip that we have done with the school.
