Field Trip to Ouro Preto

From our trip to Ouro Preto, we acquired different knowledge, from how to behave in an airport and during a field trip, to the history of the city and making notes faster to follow the explanations.

We've really appreciated to learn a bit more about the Brazilian Barroco style of art, which was used to decorate the churches of the town. We visited all of them and learned a lot with teachers' and local guides' explanations.

It was also a great experience to feel how the slaves worked in the mines during the mining period. They've suffered a lot, working more than their bodies could afford, dying very young.

We've learned a lot about the culture and religion of the city too. We were able to see that most of the people work with tourism or as salespeople, which are very common jobs in a historical city like Ouro Preto. The most common religion is Christianism, given the fact that there are many churches all over the town.

From the trip, we've had the possibility to connect our school subjects with the field trip: we had the possibility to truly understand the whole mining process and the Inconfidence. We could also observe the climate and the landscape of this region.

At last but not least, we've had the experience of meeting different people, behaving during a trip, being organized not to forget stuff in the hotel and also to organize our bags. The whole experience adds new knowledge to our minds, not necessarily relating to school subjects, but absolutely related to life in general.
