Ouro Preto trip
We
went to Ouro Preto, a historical Brazilian city. There, we visited the “Mina da
Passagem” and “Mina do Jeje”, places which
the slaves worked in bad conditions, collecting gold all day. From children to
women and men, they all had little time of life after they started to work as
slaves.
The
city has many churches. We saw four of them. Their styles are Barroco and
Rococó. Some churches were built by Alejadinho. In one of them, there was some tombs in the floor, and a museum.
The churches were decorated with gold.
The
“Casa da Moeda” is a place where in the past they fused coins to avoid the
illegal gold to be used.
Another
place is the jail. Upstairs was a place where the people were judge. Downstairs
was the jail.
At
“Praça Tiradentes” there is the statue of Tiradentes, a conjured of the
“Inconfidência Mineira”. This statue was built long after his death at the same
place. There is the old “Palácio dos
Governadores” too. Nowadays, it is a museum and touristic site.
The
“Parque do Caraça” was a boarding school
until the library took fire. After this, the school became a convent and today
it is the favorite place for the biologists, because it has a singular fauna
and flora.
This was the best trip we’ve ever been to.
