Our trip to
Ouro Preto
We went on a field trip to Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais
and it was awesome!
We've
learned so much and we had a lot of fun too. The best part was that there
weren't only people that we already knew, so we made a lot of new friends.
The airport was cool too. We laughed a lot and we ate some good food there,
like a drink from Starbucks (Luisa and Luisa) and I (Ana) ate a very good
snack at Subway.
We went to a lot of places, including Santuário do
Caraça, where we tried to
see de wolf Guará. We couldn't see it, but we learned about it anyway. The most
interesting thing that we've learned about it is that during May and April, the male
and female wolf walk together and after 65 days, 1 to 3 wolf cubs are born.
Another thing that we've learned is the existence
of old Gold Mines in Ouro Preto. Nowadays the mines aren't working anymore, but
they are open to visiters. We've learned that the mine workers were black
slaves, brought from Africa in the colonial period.
We've also learned that there are diferent churches,
created by different people and
for diferent purposes, like to welcome poor people or just to have money.
The church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and the church of Santa Efigênia are examples
of churches created to welcome the poor.
We really liked Ouro Preto and we think that it is
a city that you must visit before
you die, because it's a great city. The population is very hospitable and very kind.
