What have you learned from your trip to Ouro Preto?

From the Field trip to Ouro Preto, we have learned many things about of Minas Gerais and about the people  that lived in the 18th century.

Firstly, the economy was so much focused in the exploration of gold in the mines, where slaves worked. We visited mines like “Mina do Jeje” and “Mina da Passagem” to better understand how they worked.

Secondly, we saw the old architecture of the city. It has very irregular and large streets, and many rich churches. We visited some of them, the “Igreja de São Francisco” and “Igreja do Pilar”. They are made of Wood and painted by Manuel da Costa Ataíde, respectively.

Finally, with all of that experience, I realized that past, is a very important thing for thecreation of a heritage of a nation, as it is Ouro Preto.

The trip, has also been productive in the sense of fraternization, because it served to be greater integration between the students and between the students with teachers.
